What is the Difference Between CDP and Select

What is CDP and Select?:
The Competitive Development Program (CDP in the West end and CDS(tream) in the East end) and NYHL (North York Hockey League) are both competitive extentions to our House League hockey offering.

CDP is designed for younger players (U7-U9 only) focusing on local development, while NYHL Select is for players (U7-U9 and U10+) representing Warren Park in a city-wide competitive league.

Key Differences:
Age Groups: CDP is for U7–U9 (roughly 5–8 years old) and is not available U10 and above.  Select hockey (NYHL) is U7 to U21
Structure & Travel: CDP focuses on localized, local-association (inter-lock) matchups to reduce travel. NYHL Select involves wider, city-wide travel for games and tournaments.
Commitment & Cost: Both require playing on a house league team simultaneously, meaning higher costs (additional ice fees) and time commitments than house league alone.
Focus: CDP focuses on development supplimenting our house league program. Select focuses on higher competition and preparation for elite levels (IE Toronto Eagles A, AA hockey U10+)

Which to Choose?
Warren Park Hockey evaluates and chooses what is best for our group of players and parents 5-8 years old and enters multiple Teams when appropriate.
If our group of kids loves hockey, and wants more ice time without massive travel - We enter a CDP Team
If our group of kids wants a higher level of competition than House League and/or CDP - We enter a NYHL Select Team
